ELMNO

This work is related to a famous Korean poet ‘Yi Sang’. The title 'ELMNO' is related to fruits he would like to feel the smell just before his death, but after that, his friends were confused which fruit - LEMON and MELON. He had a hope to visit Paris before he died in Japan.
From the zero point of Paris, in front of Notre Dame, I started my journey following the signs- and numbers I faced to in the street from 12pm to 12am. I took pictures and described my journey of Paris, associating with the words and paragraphs in his poems.
이상 탄생 100주년을 기념하는 전시 ‘ 직선은 원을 살해하였는가?”를 준비하며 했던 작업이다. 낮 12시부터 밤 12시까지 12시간동안의 산책의 여정을 담은 비디오. 파리의 노트르담성당 앞 제로 포인트로부터 시작하여 도시의 기호들을 따라 이동하면서 시인 ‘이상’의 시 구절들을 사용하거나 떠올리면서 텍스트를 구성하고 그것은 시인 이상의 삶의 터전이었던 서울의 몇몇 공간과 그 정서를 보여줄 수 있는 빠리의 공간들을 촬영한 장면들과 만나 새로운 풍경을 만들어낸다. 제목 ELMNO는 이상이 죽기 전 냄새를 맡고 싶어했다던 과일, 그러나 친구들이 서로 다르게 기억하고 있는 과일 메론,과 레몬에서 왔다.
