A Grand Journey

Installation, 2013
(Gonzalez International: Sabi Yun and Minja Gu)

I sometimes work as a collective named Gonzalez International with another artist. We designed a somewhat grand title to a specific period of time we spend apart ‘the grand journey’. Through the project ‘the grand journey’, we decided to create a company that only produces unimportant events. Within the context of the company, unimportant event signify events that cause expenditure without productiveness. We documented our daily expenditures, what we eat, drank and purchased during 90 days separately. We then transformed the recorded data into physical shapes- folding the printed daily account book pages into animal figures – and as a result the recorded data of consumption is reborn as products and is exhibited in a museum.
